Monthly report for August 1998 by Christian A. Hummel: The revised version of the paper on Mizar A and Matar was accepted by AJ and will be published in November. CAH traveled to Flagstaff for a meeting on software and science issues. He installed AIPS on octans, and also tested the OYSTER software on this computer. CAH found one bug in the astrometry routines of the embedded system, and another inconsistency in the HeNe wavelength being used in OYSTER and the embedded system which might explain the inconsistent baseline solutions between the two. CAH implemented an option to effectively increase the instrumental coherent integration time in the raw data averaging program CONSTRICTOR. This might help increasing the signal-to-noise ratio of the visibility phases for astrometry.
