Monthly report for September 1999 by Christian A. Hummel: Hummel prepared 6 proposals to NPOI, two of them in collaboration with B. Mason and M. Wittkowski (Humboldt fellow at USNO in 2000). In the course of this, various procedures simplifying data base and catalog work in OYSTER were implemented and documented. Hummel implemented binary relative position uncertainty ellipse computation in OYSTER and finalized the Omicron Leonis orbit analysis. Hummel finalized the orbital elements of Beta Arietis from Mark III data (including one NPOI observation) for communication to D. Pourbaix who is writing up a paper on this star. Hummel re-established his binary star parameter analysis spreadsheets (originally in Quattro Pro) in StarOffice. Hummel worked on the OYSTER software manual and also prepared the code for easy installation at other sites. Hummel made a second backup copy of the entire Mark III interferometer raw data archive and established a reduction path for this data involving old Mark III software and OYSTER.
