1. Login as root.

2. Downloaded the appropriate patch bundle to /tmp.

3. Verify that the file has downloaded correctly using swlist. For example, to verify the XSW700GR1020 bundle, enter:

swlist -d @ /tmp/XSW700GR1020_10.20_700.depot

# Initializing...
# Contacting target localhost...
#
# Target: localhost:/tmp/XSW700GR1020_10.20_700.depot

4. Back up your system.

5. Use swinstall to install the patches. Be sure to select the SD matching operation appropriate to the release. For example, to install the HP-UX 10.20 general release bundle on a Series 700 (workstation) system, enter:

swinstall -s /tmp/XSW700GR1020_10.20_700.depot
-x autoreboot=true -x match_target=true
