P2PP V.1.x Instrument Package installation instructions

1. Change directory to where the P2PP system is installed:
      cd $P2PP
   

2. Retrieve the latest Instrument Package(s) (gzipped tar files) into the current directory: that is, p2pp-<version> or ot-<version>.
   • EMMI: available from the EMMI home page
   • SUSI2: available from the SUSI2 home page
   • SOFI: available from the SOFI home page
   • FORS1
     • (to be used for Period 64 programmes): available here (FORS1-IP-1.9+.1..tar.gz)
     • (to be used for Period 65 programmes): available here (FORS1-IP-20000129.tar.gz)
   • ISAAC: available here (ISAAC-IP-20000128.tar.gz)
   • UVES: available here (UVES-IP-20000128.tar.gz)
   • FORS2: available here (FORS2-IP-1.21.tar.gz)

3. For every Instrument Package you retrieved, execute the command sequence:

   rm -rf instruments/<instrument>
gunzip -c <instrument-package> | tar xovf -

   where <instrument> is the name of an instrument (for instance, EMMI), and <instrument-package> is the name of the corresponding Instrument Package (for instance, EMMI-IP-29-Jan-98.tar.gz).

4. At this point you may remove the Instrument Packages you retrieved.
