Release Notes for the November 2000 version of Scisoft

This list applies to all 3 supported platforms. Where there are
platform dependent differences these are noted.

Items not mentioned here are unchanged from the previous release
of June 2000.

All updated items replace the previous versions.

The following changes have been made since the June 2000 release:

A new file /scisoft/bin/Setup.bash has been added which can be used
to run Scisoft from the "bash" shell rather than from "csh/tcsh".

IRAF related changes:
   Installed the IRAF 2.1.3 patch 3b (not available on HPUX).
   Updated IRAF/esowfi to V1.2 
   Updated IRAF/STSDAS/TABLES to V2.2 
   Updated IRAF/MSCRED/MSCDB to 4.1 
   Updated IRAF/mscred to V4.1 (Oct 3 2000) version.
   Updated IRAF/rvsao to 2.1.27.
   Updated IRAF/stecf to V1.1
   Removed IRAF/ditherII (it is now part of the STSDAS dither package)

Updated ESO-MIDAS to NOV99pl2.2 including ISAAC and UVES pipelines.

Updated eclipse to V3.8-1

Updated astron IDL library to the October 3rd 2000 version

Updated dss1/2 to June 2000 version. (Fixes object name resolution on Linux)

New items:
   Installed cfitsio2100 library (FITSIO C library)
   Installed the Hipparcos Transit Tools (new /scisoft/hipparcos directory).
   Installed grace (gnuplot GUI) v5.1.2
   Installed the CERNLIB mathematical libraries
   Installed DISLIN 7.3 (used by Python)
   Installed DIFMAP V2.3c

Problem fixes:
   Modified /scisoft/mirror/packages/scilinux.hq.eso.org to remove
   trailing blank character which caused login failure. Applies only
   to mirror sites.

   Changed /scisoft/midas/99NOV/local/default.mk to point
   to /scisoft/midas rather than /midas 

   Found missing link in Linux version of NOAO/IRAF.

Other changes:
   Updated and extended Web pages. New FAQ.
