starting_model_file_name, solint Read a starting model from disk and phase self-calibrate against it. EXAMPLE ------- 0>startmod Applying default point source starting model Performing phase self-cal Adding 1 model components to the UV plane model. The established model now contains 1 components and 1 Jy Correcting IF 1. A total of 21 un-correctable visibilities were flagged in sub-array 1. Fit before self-cal, rms=3.283113Jy sigma=10.445014 Fit after self-cal, rms=3.282763Jy sigma=10.437578 Reinstating the default IF. clrmod: All model representations cleared. Redundant starting model cleared 0> All but the first line are responses from the startmod command and its clients. PARAMETERS ---------- model_file - Default = "" The file name containing delta and/or gaussian model components. If no file name is given, a point source model will be substituted. This model will be the starting model used to correct the phases via self-cal before mapping begins. The model will be discarded after use. solint - Default = 0.0. The solution interval (minutes). See 'help selfcal' for details. CONTEXT ------- Invoking startmod is equivalent to the following sequence of commands: clrmod true rmodel "somefile.mod" selfcal clrmod true This results in the UV data being phase self-cal'd against a starting model (say from modelfit), without producing residuals between the model and the observed data. Since the model does not become part of the established model, the starting model need only be a coarse estimate of the true flux distribution. SIDE EFFECTS ------------ Any existing models will be cleared before reading in the starting model and the UV data will be re-inverted by the next operation that requires the residual map.
