Setup of Printers/Plotters at ESO - Garching                        000523

To define output devices for printing use ASSIGN/PRINT, for plot output use
ASSIGN/PLOT and for hardcopies of images ASSIGN/DISPLAY. Subsequent PRINT/...,
PLOT/...  or LOAD/IMAGE commands will then send their output to these devices.
The commands COPY/GRAPHICS and COPY/DISPLAY have the output device name as a
parameter in the command line.

The following table shows the devices which are currently available to MIDAS 
users at ESO headquarters in Garching. This file has to be adapted at each site
by the Midas responsible to reflect the current situation at each institute. 

For each group of devices there is also one default device with a generic MIDAS
name which can be used in MIDAS commands instead of the system name.
All other devices have to be accessed via their system name.
Which devices are supported by the different ASSIGN commands is indicated via
PR, PL and DI in the table. The COPY commands can use all `LASER' or `COLOUR'
devices.

Here we list just a few of all the printers available at ESO headquarters. 
For a complete list use the Netscape Browser and go to the URL:

There click on `Unix' button in the left field, then click on `ESO Printers'
in the right field under the heading `Computing Facilities and documentation' 
of that Web page. A new window will be opened which lets you view all 
ESO printers, their capabilities and location.
