@b<This window will tell you how to place non-IRAF programs in the top-level tree of the ASSIST.>

If you have access to non-IRAF programs written using the
IRAF-compatible parameter interface, you can add those programs to the
top-level graph by placing the program names in the @b<user.programs>
file in the uparm directory.  These programs will be displayed in the
@b<USER PROGRAMS> branch of the top-level graph. They are  accessed by
the same parameter editor as is used for IRAF tasks.

For example, the following user.programs file:

	# example of a user.programs file @break
	qplist @break
	imdisp

will result in two IRAF-compatible programs being added to the
top-level graph.
